Historical Context

Warroad has a history of vibrancy in the downtown district. Some of the locals might recall name of businesses such as Wheatcraft, Hotel Warroad, Magnan Drug, Russell’s Café, Pallie’s Pool Hall, Joyce’s Barber Shop, Bud Mergens Law Office and more! The 1960’s photo has been an inspirational piece to reimagine Main Avenue in the heart of the downtown Warroad. In 2019, Warroad Real Estate, LLC purchased a bank of four buildings as former owners chose to retire or relocate. With the design expertise of JLG Architects, the properties have been assessed and design concepts prepared that blends the historic charm with a modern twist.

A Golden Sledgehammer Celebration was held to officially kick off the Main Avenue Renovations on Tuesday, April 26th with an estimated completion date of Summer 2023.
